The George H Riedel Private Foundation was established in the year 2000. He and his father served as Directors for F&M Bank and Trust Company for over 90 years.
The purpose of the Foundation is to improve the quality of life in the city of Hannibal, Missouri. F&M Bank and Trust Company serves as Trustee and Administrator.
During Mr. Riedel’s life, he concentrated the majority of his philanthropy to either the area of services for young people, or the support and economic well being of the Hannibal business community. His support of the business community was primarily through the tourist industry as it relates to the legacy and history of Mark Twain. However, today the Foundation is not limited to those areas. Grant requests will be considered from any 501(c)(3) organization whose program or project benefits the citizens of Hannibal.

The Foundation can only accomplish its purpose through the creative skill and talent of those eligible organizations. The Foundation hopes, by working as a partner with grant recipients, it will be able to use its substantial but finite resources to meet Mr. Riedel’s goals.
F&M Bank and Trust Company, as trustee, works diligently to carry out Mr. Riedel’s goal of making Hannibal a better and stronger community by enabling eligible institutions to generate additional resources and attract a broader constituency of donor and volunteer participation.
While requests always far exceed the funds available, we hope that through attention to a number of articulated priorities and criteria, the grants will make significant differences.
